Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change
Murat KURUM

Born in Ankara in 1976, Mr. Murat KURUM completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara. Following his graduation from the Civil Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Konya Selçuk University in 1999, he obtained his master’s degree on Urban Transformation in 2017.
He worked in different private entities from 1999 to 2005. He served as a Specialist at TOKİ (Housing Development Administration) Ankara Implementation Department between 2005 and 2006, as the European Side Implementation Branch Director at TOKİ Istanbul Implementation Department from 2006 to 2009, and as the General Manager and Member of Board of Directors at Emlak Konut GYO A.Ş., the subsidiary of Republic of Türkiye, Prime Minister’s Office, Housing Development Administration between 2009 and 2018.
After serving as the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change between 2018 and 2023, Mr. KURUM was elected as the 28th Term Justice and Development Party Member of Parliament in Istanbul. He acted as the TBMM (Turkish Parliament) Environment Commission Chairperson.
He was reassigned as the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change on the 2nd of July, 2024.
Mr. Murat KURUM is married with 3 children and speaks English.
