The “Climate-Smart Agriculture” Project Launch Program, which is within the scope of the IPA II Period “Strengthening Climate Adaptation Action in Turkey Project” Grant Program with the partnership of the EU and our country, was held on 28.02.2024 at Balıkesir Avlu Congress and Culture Center.

Project; It is considered an important step that will shed light on Balıkesir’s future in the agricultural sector.

The project, carried out under the leadership of BASİAD, one of the components of Balıkesir City Council, is being implemented in cooperation with important stakeholders such as Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Balıkesir Commodity Exchange and Southern Marmara Development Agency (GMKA).  

This project aims to increase the resilience of Balıkesir agriculture against a global problem such as climate change and to ensure the sustainability of agriculture by protecting natural resources. In this context, within the scope of the project, it is planned to develop innovative and sustainable solutions in agricultural production and to train farmers on this subject.  

Additionally, within the scope of the project, strengthening the technological infrastructure for the digital transformation of agriculture and increasing productivity has been determined as an important goal.
