The 3rd Action Coordination Unit Meeting under the ‘Disaster-Resilient Türkiye’ Project was held on 21 April 2026.

The 3rd Action Coordination Unit Meeting, organised as part of the “Disaster-Resilient Türkiye” project, was held in a hybrid format on 21 April 2026, hosted by the Presidency for Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD).
The meeting was attended by Mr Akif TÜRKEL, Sector Manager at the European Union Delegation to Türkiye,
Ms Esra HACIALİOĞLU, Chair of the International Projects Working Group at the Directorate of International Relations, AFAD, Ministry of the Interior; Mr Güven SEYDİOĞLU, Contract Specialist from the Project Implementation Directorate, Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations, Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change; and representatives from the contractor firm.

At the opening of the meeting, the importance of the work being carried out in line with the project’s overall objectives was emphasised. Following a brief briefing on the meeting’s objectives, activities completed during the initial phase were discussed. In this context, views and assessments regarding the draft Initial Report were shared, and recommendations were put forward for the report’s development in line with the contributions of relevant stakeholders.

Later in the meeting, the activities planned for the implementation phase were discussed in detail. Comprehensive briefings were provided on the work being carried out and planned to optimise AFAD’s operational capacity, strengthen stakeholder capacity and cooperation, and enhance collaboration with the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
Furthermore, the activities to be carried out over the next six-month period were shared with participants, and the importance of ensuring they proceed in an effective and coordinated manner was emphasised.
