The closing event of the “Technical Assistance for the Development of the End of Waste Concept in Turkiye Project”, financed by the European Union and beneficiary of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, was held in Ankara on 17 April 2025.

The event brought together representatives of relevant institutions and organizations at the national level as well as leading stakeholders of the waste management and recycling sector.

The opening speeches of the event were delivered by Adam IWASZKO, Project Director; Virve VIMPARI, Head of Green Development and Inclusive Growth Section at the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey; Serdar ÖZTÜRK, Deputy Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation at the Directorate for EU Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Fatih TURAN, Director General for Environmental Management at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.

In his speech, Fatih TURAN, Director General of Environmental Management, summarized the contributions of the project to our sector and emphasized that encouraging the use of recycled materials as raw materials, especially in the metal, copper and glass sectors, will contribute to the circular economy, and that waste with end-of-waste status can be sold as “secondary raw materials” and thus reach a wider customer base, and that the end-of-waste application will facilitate waste management in the relevant sectors while providing great advantages in the supply chain and trade.
