Climate Change Adaptation Grant Programme Grant Fair and Information Day Held in Ankara.
The Grant Fair and Information Day organised within the scope of the Climate Change Adaptation Grant Programme was held on 25 September 2025 in Ankara, at the Divan Hotel.
The event brought together representatives of public institutions, local authorities, international organisations, grant beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders.
The meeting opened with a short video screening, followed by opening remarks delivered by Meral Mungan Arda, Climate Change and Environment Portfolio Manager at UNDP Türkiye; Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Raci Bayer, Head of the Project Implementation Department at the General Directorate of European Union and Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change; Christian Ballaro, Acting Head of Section for Green Development and Inclusive Growth and Attaché at the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye; Orhan Solak, Deputy Head of the Climate Change Directorate; and Mr. Bülent Özcan, Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation at the General Directorate of European Union and Foreign Relations.
In their speeches, the speakers highlighted the environmental, economic and social impacts of climate change, underlining the importance of adaptation policies and the role of EU-funded grant programmes in strengthening local resilience and supporting sustainable development.
Following the opening session, Candan Avcı, Grant Manager at UNDP Türkiye, delivered a presentation on the grant component of the programme. The programme continued with a Grant Projects Recognition Ceremony, during which successful projects were acknowledged.
During the day, participants had the opportunity to visit the Grant Beneficiaries Fair, where ongoing projects were presented. A panel session entitled “Lessons Learned from the Implementation of Grant Projects”, moderated by Ömer Öztürk, brought together representatives from the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, relevant public institutions, UNDP and the Central Finance and Contracts Unit to share experiences and best practices.
The event concluded with presentations by grant projects, a participant feedback survey and closing remarks.
The meeting contributed significantly to increasing the visibility of climate change adaptation efforts and strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange among stakeholders.
