ABOUT THE PROJECT Within the scope of the project, the following activities were carried out:

  • Analysis of the current status of drinking water treatment plants in Turkey (treatment processes, capacities, raw water and treated water parameters),
  • Development of a drinking water treatment plants database in Turkey and integration of the system with the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) National Water Database,
  • Assessment of the legal and institutional status of drinking water treatment in Turkey and its comparison with EU directives and International Audit Standards,
  • Review of drinking water treatment methods in light of current developments, new and existing best available technologies,
  • Analysis of chemicals used in drinking water treatment and their effects,
  • Organisation of workshops, study visits and/or seminars on drinking water treatment,
  • Development of a flexible DSS enabling users to carry out economic analysis of proposed drinking water treatment plants, presenting alternative solutions, etc.
  • Provision of training on how to use the DSS.
