Within the scope of the “Technical Assistance Mechanism for Post-Earthquake Recovery in the Municipal Infrastructure Sector” implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, a monitoring and site visit was conducted for the Şanlıurfa Water and Wastewater Project between 14–15 April 2026 at the ŞUSKİ General Directorate as well as in Bozova and Halfeti districts.
The site visits were carried out with the participation of Mr. Mehmet Yunus İNAN, Head of the Project Preparation and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change; Ms. Selda GÜNGÖR, Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit; Contract Expert Mr. Muharrem Erdem TONGUÇ; Monitoring and Evaluation Experts; representatives of İLBANK Regional Directorate; and officials from the consultant and contractor companies.
During the visit to the employer institution, Şanlıurfa Water and Sewerage Administration (ŞUSKİ) General Directorate, meetings were held with the participation of project stakeholders. These meetings addressed the overall progress of the project, technical and administrative challenges, coordination processes, and financial matters.
As part of the program, the delegation conducted on-site inspections in Bozova and Halfeti districts, meeting with contractors, İLBANK representatives, and technical consultants. In addition, a visit was paid to Bozova Municipality, the final beneficiary. Meetings held on-site evaluated the current progress, mobilization process, encountered technical and logistical issues, potential delay risks, and proposed solutions.
On the second day of the visit, an evaluation meeting was held at the Halfeti project site. Based on the findings from the field, necessary actions were clarified, and work was carried out to establish a roadmap for more effective implementation of the project.
Aiming to contribute to post-earthquake infrastructure recovery efforts, the project is of critical importance for strengthening Şanlıurfa’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Officials emphasized that the site visits would accelerate the project implementation process and enhance inter-institutional coordination.
