The 1st Steering Committee Meeting of the “Technical Assistance Grant Project to Support Post-Earthquake Recovery in the Municipal Infrastructure Sector” Was Held
The 1st Steering Committee Meeting organised under the “Technical Assistance Grant Project to Support Post-Earthquake Recovery in the Municipal Infrastructure Sector”, funded by the European Union and implemented under the coordination of our Ministry, was held on 13 April 2026, hosted by our Ministry. During the meeting, the project’s current implementation status, progress made to date, contractual processes, and planned activities for the coming period were discussed in detail.
The meeting, held in a hybrid format and moderated by Mr Mehmet Yunus İnan, Head of the Project Preparation and Monitoring Directorate, was attended by representatives of relevant institutions and organisations within the scope of the project, including the European Union Delegation to Turkey, the Directorate General for Migration Management of the Ministry of the Interior, İLBANK and the Directorate General for European Union Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the contractor firms.
The meeting, held in two sessions, began with a general briefing on the project by Mr Mehmet Yunus İnan, Head of the Project Preparation and Monitoring Department; this was followed by opening remarks from representatives of the European Union Delegation to Turkey and the Directorate General for Migration Management. Subsequently, officials from the Programming Branch of the Ministry’s Project Preparation and Monitoring Directorate delivered a presentation on the project’s general framework, components, scope of implementation, beneficiaries, physical and financial progress, and activities planned for the coming period. Additionally, the Project Implementation Directorate presented on the current status of contracts within the project.
The first session concluded with a presentation by the İLBANK Project Implementation Unit.
In the second session of the meeting, presentations were delivered by the contractors involved in the project. In this context, information was provided to participants regarding the work carried out and the current stage reached by the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and the contractors for Lot 1, Lot 2 and Lot 3.
At the end of the session, general evaluations were shared by representatives of the participating institutions; in the closing section, the Head of the Project Implementation Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Raci BAYER, provided an assessment of the project implementation process, and the meeting concluded following a discussion of views and recommendations.
The 1st Steering Committee Meeting served as an important forum for consultation, facilitating the strengthening of cooperation and coordination among project stakeholders, the comprehensive evaluation of the implementation process, and the shaping of a roadmap for the coming period within a shared framework of understanding.
